Olivia French-O’Bannon

Olivia French-O’Bannon, 40, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Gackle, North Dakota after years of dealing with depression. Olivia, the youngest of three siblings of Paul and Sue O’Bannon was born on March 31, 1975 in St. Paul, MN. She had enjoyed the time spent growing up in North St, Paul before her family ventured north to Park Rapids, MN.

As a young woman she had held her family and friends close to heart and her love of cats was evident. She attended school in Park Rapids. From there she ventured south to Rochester where she continued furthering her education and was brought the delightful joy of motherhood to her first born, Samantha June.

She entered into marriage with George French and soon the days were shared with births of Severin, Javlyn, Savannah and Jordyn French. They were the light of her life. From Rochester, she moved back north, then to Arizona, Colorado, and finally settling in North Dakota. With the moves came more challenges and her desire to keep learning. She was a home care provider but her favorite job was homemaker and mother to her children.

On Sunday, November 29, 2015, Olivia joined her father in heaven, whom she had never really gotten over the initial loss of.

Survivors include her children: Samantha June O’Bannon, Severin, Javlyn, Savannah and Jordyn; mother: Sue Sheldon; sister: Lana-Jo (Jeremiah) Johnson; brother: Michael P. O’Bannon; nieces: Melissa (Derek) Mickelson, Katelynn Kimball, and Sadie O’Bannon; and nephews: William and Wyatt Kimball; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, Paul O’Bannon and her grandparents.

While we will forever question her reasoning for her decision, we need to remember that depression is an illness and those that suffer can sometimes find no inner peace until they are free from the demons that haunt them. And we at least know now that she is at peace…

In the spring to come, Olivia’s final journey will come to rest when she is buried alongside her father in Detroit Lakes with a Circle of Life Memorial. A notice will be placed in the local paper to allow others to come and share their wonderful memories and bid farewell.

Ione BredahlIone Bredahl, age 85, Wheaton, MN, formerly of Kensal, ND, died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec 2, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous encounter with brain cancer.

Ione was born May 25, 1930, in Darling Township, MN, the oldest daughter of William and Clara Regnell in a family of eight children. After graduation from Little Falls High School in 1949, she moved to Kensal to begin her lifelong passion of caring for others. She married Roderick John Mucha on February 18, 1950, during a blizzard, which prevented the newlyweds from attending their own wedding reception in Melville, ND that evening. The couple farmed east of Kensal and was blessed with two sons and six daughters before Rod’s sudden death on September 18, 1961. Ione’s strong faith and commitment to support and raise her family were inspirational to those who knew her. She worked at Harold’s Department Store, Kensal Public School as a cook, and served coffee to many at the Kensal Community Café to supplement the farming income.

On Dec 26, 1983, Ione married Gordon Bredahl who also farmed in Kensal. With this marriage came four stepsons, their wives, and more grandchildren to enjoy and love. Ione was able to travel and enjoy winters in Arizona during these years with Gordon. Her strong belief in caring for those we love gave her the strength to care for Gordon when his health declined. He passed away on Dec 22, 2003.

Ione was a member of St John’s Catholic Church, Kensal, Ave Maria Catholic Church, Wheaton, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Traverse County American Cancer Society.

Ione loved to share her handcrafted afghans, embroidered dish towels, and warm apple turnovers. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She remembered all the events of her past and continued to share her stories with her family as all were gathered in the final weeks of her life. Her family and friends will miss her infectious laughter and the love she so freely shared.

Ione is survived by sons Richard Mucha, Devils Lake, ND, Leon (Debra) Mucha, Buffalo City, WI, and daughters Diane Mucha, Eagle River, AK, Deborah Mucha, Anchorage, AK, Dora (John) Davenport, Atwood, KS, Darlene (Steven) Turner, Fort Dodge, IA, and Darlis (Myron) Morth, Wheaton, MN. She is also survived by stepsons Dennis (Jill) Bredahl, Spiritwood, ND, Dale (Vonda) Bredahl, Kensal, James (Jodi) Bredahl, Jamestown, ND, and Chris (Pam) Bredahl, Kensal. She was loved by 14 grandchildren and 12 step-grandchildren. She was blessed with 7 great-grandchildren and 16 step-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister Elaine (Edward) Opatz, Sartell, MN, sister-in-law Proxie Dick, Jamestown, ND, and brother-in-law Ken Norton, Little Falls, MN, along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, daughter Donna Mucha, granddaughter Anita Turner, brothers Robert, Everett, Lyle, and Arnold Regnell, and sisters Marlys (Mucha) Peil and Ruth Norton.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 7, 2015 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Kensal, ND.

Visitation: 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Rosary & Vigil: 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment: St. John’s Cemetery, Kensal, ND.
